Helen Keller Hospital Names Westmoreland as Chief Financial Officer

Paul Storey, Helen Keller Hospital president and chief executive officer, has announced that Penny Westmoreland will join the hospital's senior management team as chief financial officer on March 30, 2015. Westmoreland has over 25 years of experience in hospital-related finance and accounting. In her role as chief financial officer, Westmoreland will interact with all Helen Keller and Red Bay hospital departments as well as the Huntsville Hospital System management.

"We are so happy that a professional with Penny's extensive experience chose to join Helen Keller Hospital," said Storey.

"Penny brings a skill set that will serve us well as we navigate a tough healthcare environment. I am confident that she will provide strong leadership toward the overall financial health of Helen Keller Hospital."

With experience in both the not-for-profit and investor owned arenas, Westmoreland has spent her entire career in Northwest Alabama hospitals. The past 12 years have been with Lifepoint Hospitals, LLC, where she most recently served as market chief financial officer and compliance officer for Russellville Hospital, Lakeland Community Hospital, and Northwest Medical Center. Prior to her stint with Lifepoint, she spent 14 years with Coffee Health Group in accounting and finance positions.

She received Bachelor of Science degrees in Finance and Information Systems as well as Accounting from the University of North Alabama. She also received a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Alabama. Penny is a member of Highland Baptist Church, where she has been active in the nursery and children's ministries. She is an alumni supporter of the University of North Alabama and a Muscle Shoals Junior League sustainer. Penny and her husband Chuck live in Muscle Shoals and have two children, Landon and Josie.

Westmoreland said that she is excited about becoming a part of the Helen Keller Hospital team. "I am very happy about the opportunity to serve the hospital and the community in my new role," she said. "I know that the leadership at Helen Keller Hospital has great plans for healthcare in the Shoals, and I'm looking forward to facing the current and future challenges with them."
