Keller Volunteer Honored at Foundation Event

Sheffield, Ala. - Each year, the Helen Keller Hospital Foundation presents the Lifetime Achievement Award at their annual spring event. This award is given to an individual who has provided outstanding service not only to Helen Keller Hospital, but to the community as a whole. At the most recent event, held on May 6, 2016 at the Marriott-Shoals Conference Center, the Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Vera Webb.

Vera has been a faithful Helen Keller Hospital volunteer for over 55 years, working thousands of volunteer hours. She began volunteering at Helen Keller Hospital in 1960 when the volunteer auxiliary was created. She has worked wherever she was needed most, taking care of the chores at hand with grace, kindness, and a sharp sense of humor. In recent years, Vera has brought style and helpfulness to the Keller Gift Shop.

Vera was named "Volunteer of the Year" in 2011, celebrated her 95th birthday in 2015, and has recently decided to retire from her duties as volunteer.
