No information will be released to the media without prior approval from the Incident Commander.
A press release/public service announcement will be sent immediately, with the IC's approval, informing the community of the current situation as well as all known methods for obtaining information.
The Helen Keller Hospital PIO (Public Information Officer) or a representative will make every effort to provide information regularly and accurately.
No media representative will be allowed access to any part of the Helen Keller Hospital campus without an escort by, or with, someone designated by the PIO.
Any family member or patient granting interviews will first be contacted by the PIO and asked for their permission. Prior to the interview, a media release form must be signed.
Working with the HICS liaison, the PIO will coordinate with PIO's from other supporting agencies in order to send consistent and accurate information to the community.
