Helen Keller Hospital Selects Employee And Volunteer Of The Year

Sheffield, Ala. - Helen Keller Hospital recently announced their Employee of the Year and Volunteer of the Year. Employee of the Year was announced at the annual Hospital Week Picnic held on May 14. Volunteer of the Year was announced at the annual Volunteer Week banquet in April.

Holly Cosby was named Employee of the Year. Holly has been employed at Helen Keller Hospital since 2006 in Support Services. She was nominated by her peers for being professional, helpful, and for having a great attitude. Holly received a plaque, trip to either the beach or the mountains, and a prize package.

Employee of the Year is chosen each year from the list of the year's previous Employees of the Month. To be eligible for Employee of the Month, employees are nominated by their peers. They are chosen by vote of a board of Helen Keller Hospital employees. Employees of the Month receive a lapel pin, a reserved parking space, dinner for two at George's Steak Pit, and more. Photos of the Employees of the Month, as well as the Employee of the Year, are displayed next to the Keller Café.

Bernadette Dumerve was chosen as Volunteer of the Year. Bernadette has been volunteering at Helen Keller Hospital since 2008. She works with the Dial-A-Volunteer Errand Service. Bernadette was nominated for being helpful, dedicated, and loyal. She received a prize package and plaque.

Volunteer of the Year is chosen each year from the list of the year's previous Volunteers of the Month. Eligible volunteers are nominated each month and voted on by a board, selected by the Auxiliary President and Volunteer Manager. Volunteers of the Month receive a certificate and prize package. Photos of the Volunteers of the Month are displayed next to the Dial a Volunteer Lounge, located on the 1st floor of the hospital. A photo of the Volunteer of the Year is displayed next to the Keller Café.
